What's new

What we've improved in the bill check, newest first.

    • Check a bill without an account. Your results show right away, and you can save the bill to a free account afterwards.
    • Change your financial assistance answers from any bill. They apply to all your bills.
    • Fair price check: each charge on an itemized bill next to what Medicare and insurers pay, using 2026 Medicare rates for your area.
    • Billing code checks: tests a panel already includes, two ER levels on one day, units over Medicare's daily limits, routine supplies and marked-up over-the-counter drugs.
    • Financial assistance check: three quick questions show whether you likely qualify for free or discounted hospital care, including state laws in eight states.
    • Hospital statements that list revenue codes are now read correctly.
    • Easier to use on phones: bigger buttons, and form boxes no longer zoom the page.
    • A new home page, pricing page and guides, and a cleaner My bills page.
    • Fix a number we misread, and the results update.
    • Rename a bill from its title.
    • Uploads that aren't medical bills, like car insurance papers, are set aside instead of checked.
    • The free check now shows what looks wrong and how much money is involved.
    • Seven new guides, including collection letters, Medicaid billing and second insurance.
    • New checks: collections, surprise bills, Good Faith Estimates, second insurance and denied claims.
    • Payment receipts: see whether you paid more than you owed and are due a refund.
    • My bills compares your bills with each other and reminds you of follow-ups.
    • Launch: free bill check, a $9 plan per bill or $49 a year, and free guides.
    • Scanned PDFs and phone photos are read page by page.
